"The Ponder Heart" (2000)

The Ponder Heart was aired on Monday, October 15, 2001, on PBS in United States, as Exxon Mobil Masterpiece Theatre's American Collection. (Details HERE)
I have never known about the story and the novelist, Eudora Welty. In addition I did not have enough information about American southern regions. All I know about Mississippi is Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn story by Mark Twain. I enjoyed this film pretty much. It was fun to hear the way the people speak in a southern dialect (sometimes I did not understand what they were talking), and it was quite surprising to know there were such big and wealthy families in southern parts of United States.

In this film, Lenny played DeYancey "Tadpole" Clanahan, the Ponder family's cheerful Attorney, who defends Uncle Daniel (Peter MacNicol) against the charge of murdering his young wife, Bonnie Dee (Angela Bettis). DeYancey is a comical part in this film. He tries to do his best for the Ponder family and his best friend, Uncle Daniel. However, as far as he tries, the situation becomes worse and he is confused by Uncle Daniel's naive manner at the trial.
During DeYancey's appearance, I was always watching a bunch of hair standing on the top of his head. He once tries to calm his hair by his hand, but soon it stands again. (Oh it was so cute.) It is a small point but I feel that description characterizes DeYancey's warm and pleasant personality.

Thank you, Barbara, for your kind help to see this film!!
